Leadership in a modern-day organisation can often seem like a mammoth task. Establishing your credibility, adding value, building a unifying vision and dealing with so many conflicting priorities can make it difficult to find your feet. With all this going on it can be easy to lose your way in the absence of the clarity and confidence needed to deal with the challenges.
These challenges are made worse by the prevailing view that leaders should ‘sink or swim’ with a lack of support, development and guidance provided by the organisation. Most leaders don’t arrive fully formed and these early roles within organisations can become the crucible for either an outstanding career or something much less.
Maybe you are struggling with some of these leadership issues?
We can get frustrated by how our leadership career might look but without the strategy to make it happen. There can be a number of reasons for this:
- Lack of clarity on how to deal with the challenges
- Following the pull of company culture or external expectations of how you should operate as a leader
- Conflicting and unclear drivers shaping your leadership style
- Difficulty in dealing with the internal blocks that prevent you from resolving these issues
- Not knowing who can help you to resolve these issues
