In this episode, I’m going to be joined by Mary Beth Hazeldine and Paul Smith. 

And they are going to be helping me to understand the future of work, jobs and our careers and more specifically what the Metaverse is and how it will affect us all in the near future.

 

You might recall Mary Beth was a guest on the podcast back in Episode No 3 (Mary Beth joins us today from Spain) and I featured Paul’s podcast (100 Innovations per hour) on the show back in episode 22. Paul joins us from York.

 

We will meet them both in a moment. To talk about the Metaverse.

 

So, is the Metaverse the next big breakthrough in technology? Or is it a techno-dystopian nightmare we should all avoid? 

 

Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg believes it’s the future of the internet and of his trillion-dollar company. You might recall the name change from Facebook to Meta last year.

 

Facebook now has 10,000 people—almost a fifth of all Facebook employees—working to make the Metaverse a reality.

 

So, what does it mean for you and for the future of work?
