Introduction

Welcome to episode No 74.

Welcome to today's special episode as we take a reflective journey through the treasure trove of over 70 episodes from the podcast.

After careful consideration, I have handpicked the absolute best content to present to you today.

In this highly curated episode, we will explore four career pathways tailored to your unique needs, regardless of your age, stage, or desired level of success.

These pathways serve as practical roadmaps so to speak,

equipping you with the tools and insights needed to navigate your professional journey with confidence and purpose.

So, without further ado, let's get started

The first pathway I’ve got for you is the taking stock pathway.

This pathway is all about self-assessment, making informed decisions, and finding fulfilment in your current role or exploring new opportunities.

And,

In Episode 73, I tackled a common question that many of us face at some point in our careers: should I stay in my current job or should I venture into new territory?

This episode is filled with practical guidance on assessing your role, evaluating the organisation you work for, and understanding the dynamics of your industry.

In Episode 73 I also shared strategies to help you reignite your passion for your current job, should you choose to stay.

And, an additional bonus, you can download my "Should I Stay or Should I Go Guide," which is FREE on my website.

You must download this guide to get the best out of Episode 73.

And of course, I'll link to this guide in the show notes.

Moving on, on the taking stock pathway …

In Episode 60 I explained how you can have more productive career discussions with your manager.

Many of us struggle with our relationship with our manager, this in turn can hold back our professional growth.

Instead, you want your manager to be your ally, providing support and guidance.

In this episode, I explain how to foster more productive and fruitful career discussions with your manager, enabling you to forge a stronger partnership.

So, do have a listen to episode 60.

and

Episode 53 offers a valuable framework for those considering a pay raise.

And this episode follows on perfectly from learning about having more productive career discussions with you manager.

You can see why these are pathways, right.

We all deserve to be compensated fairly for our hard work, but that’s not always the case.

In episode 53, I present a proven framework to determine if it's the right time to ask for a pay raise and guide you on how to navigate the conversation with your manager.

Lots of people have told me that they have used this episode and my free guide to approach getting a payrise with renewed confidence and a strategy that works.

The episode explains why securing a pay raise is all about recognising your own worth, preparing diligently, and presenting a compelling case.

And I do have that free guide on my website to help you negotiate a pay increase which accompanies this episode, Episode 53

Links of course in the show notes.

Losing a job can be an incredibly challenging experience, both emotionally and financially. In Episode 6, which came out back in January 2021, I focused on navigating the aftershock of losing your job.

For those that lose their job, the pressure to quickly bounce back and find another job is understandable,

but it's equally important to take a moment to pause, reflect on your situation, and rebuild your confidence.

In this episode, I offer guidance on how to draw breath, assess your circumstances, and embark on a journey towards reclaiming your professional path with renewed vigour.

And, yes, you might not remember that far back, but I have a free resource on my website to help you bounce back from redundancy. Do have a look at the guide and draw strength from this comprehensive resource.

So that was Episode 6

So, the "Taking Stock" pathway encapsulates these four pivotal episodes, each addressing different aspects of your career journey.

That’s episodes, 73, 60, 53, and no 6.

Whether you're pondering your current role, considering a pay raise, navigating your relationship with your manager, or rebounding from a job loss, these episodes provide actionable advice and insights to support you.

Pathway No 2

Ok, Now, let's shift our focus to the next pathway. Pathway No 2.

This is a dynamic and transformative pathway called "Unlock Your Career Potential."

This pathway empowers you, ignites your motivation, and propels you towards reaching your full professional potential.

Episode 56, the first in this pathway, serves as a powerful starting point on our journey to unlock your career potential.

In this episode, I talked about the significance of values when it comes to carving out your career path.

Understanding your values might not seem like a dynamic step on the face of it, but don’t be fooled. This is a crucial step in finding fulfilment in your work.

I explore what it means to feel stuck in your career, the underlying reasons behind this stagnation, the consequences of remaining stuck, and, most importantly, how to break free from this inertia and move towards work and a career you genuinely love.

I share five practical steps that will help you gain the clarity needed to pursue a fulfilling professional path.

Following episode 55 is

These blocks are frequently encountered by my coaching clients, and by highlighting them, you might recognise some of these challenges in your own journey.

Whether you're contemplating switching roles, breaking into a new industry, or exploring a different sector, this episode provides guidance on the five most important career experiments you can undertake right now.

These career experiments are short-term, low-risk activities that allow you to immerse yourself in a potential career skill or field you're considering for the future.

Engaging in these experiments allows you to test the waters, gain valuable insights, and make informed decisions without compromising your current job or rushing into a new position.

So, that’s episode 59, and

Finally, in Episode 58, I address a common question for those facing a career cul-de-sac: should you consider going back to college or university?

I discuss the pros and cons of pursuing further education and explore whether it can unlock your career potential.

This episode aims to help you weigh your options and make an informed decision about the best next steps to take in your journey towards reaching your full professional. That’s episode 58.

Making sure your initial actions in a new role lay the foundation for success and ensuring you get off to a great start.
